Stephen Zork

This year we welcome Professor Stephen Zork as the Chorale's interim director. Professor Zork has been the director of Choral Studies at Andrews University since 1991 and oversees graduate conducting majors in addition to teaching classes on choral pedagogy at Andrews. He has conducted choral festivals and lectured at music conferences throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South America. Professor Zork conducted the South Bend Symphonic Choir from 2003–2008, established the Christian Arts Chorale in 2004, and has directed the Chancel Choir at First Congregational Church of St. Joseph, Michigan for over 20 years!

Stephen Zork is a lyric baritone and performs art song and oratorio repertoire as a vocal recitalist. As a composer, he has written multiple-movement works for brass, woodwinds, choir, and orchestra. These works have been presented in numerous recital halls and major concert venues, including the Howard Performing Arts Center, Morris Civic Auditorium, Mendel Center, Myerson Performing Arts Center, and Georgia Dome. 

In addition to his current roles, Stephen Zork graciously lends us his expertise for a short period following the retirement of the Chorale's long-time director, Alexander Blachly. We welcome his contributions as interim director and are pleased to have him join our line of extraordinary Chorale conductors!
